About Us
Lasavanne Environmental and Development Associations is a Nonprofit organization located in the south eastern part of Trinidad in the region of Mayaro, in a small village name Calmapass. We promote and bring awareness to our shore lines and mangroves erosion, maintenance of our beaches and rivers, and also replantation of our river banks, environmentally. Developmentally we focus predominantly on preparing people for the industry, by linking education and meaningful employment to the unskilled and underprivileged youths in our community. Premised on the belief that personal and technical development can be a powerful catalysis incentive for youths to pursue their education and employment goals. Our mission is to equip youths along the spectrum of the criminal justice involvement risk, and unemployability with the skills and experience necessary to take concrete steps towards being self-sufficient, self-fulfilled, and productive members of the community and by extension the society. After almost four decades of facilitating decision making to the careers of the youths in our community. Through the then- Mayaro Guayaguayare Unemployed Organization and Concern Citizens and after, the Lasavanne Village Council. We believe it was time to apply our skills, experience, and passion towards helping a larger percentage of our disconnected youths by focusing nationally rather than in our local demographic area of Mayaro/Guayaguayare. We founded the Lasavanne Environmental and Development Associations in 2016 to bridge that gap because as a society we are deeply fragmented and more emphasis should be placed on bringing together our people, our communities and our organizations. We believe that the exchange of our cultures and the elimination of those frictional lines drawn by men we call borders, with the collaboration of our resources, that will breathe an opportunity for us to build better communities and by extension a better country.
